It was great to see everyone at our Coffee and Cake with PPCV virtual meeting at 10:00 am on Wednesday 27th January 2021.
The meeting was chaired by Claire. For this particular meeting, we welcomed Penny Whitell from Plymouth City Council who talked to us about Access. Access is a single point of contact service which helps parents and carers get the most appropriate service for their children or young person supported by a multidisciplinary team.
Penny explains, "For the last 2 years we have been working together on the development of Access - Community Health, Wellbeing and SEND. Access brings together processes currently being delivered by Plymouth City Council (PCC), Livewell South West and University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust (UHPNT) when new requests for specialist support are made. It provides a coordinated and joined up approach for assessment and planning which means that families don’t have tell their story over and over again. It also provides an outcome of support so that services can be accessed in a timely way."
From the start PPCV have been involved in the development of Access and as we reach the next phase we want to ensure that this coproduction continues.
