A huge thank you to everyone who has taken the time to email Plymouth Parent Carer Voice with their praise and/or concerns for the Ofsted and CQC inspection of Plymouth services. We read every single one and did our very best to feed back your experiences to the inspectors at 3pm on Thursday 22nd June 2023.
As a result of the meeting, we have one final request. Please take a few minutes to take the following action by 9am on Monday 26th June 2023 to ensure our voices are heard effectively.
1. Copy the email that you sent to PPCV into a new email. (If you didn’t do one, it is not too late to take action by following these steps.)
2. In the subject box, write PLYMOUTH INSPECTION.
3. Read your email. Does your concern/praise have a theme? (Examples could include, availability of specialist provisions, consistency of SEND practice within settings, legal deadlines, quality of EHCP…..) If so, write the description (otherwise known as a “theme”) at the start of your email in bold letters.
4. Send your email to lasend@ofsted.gov.uk and make sure you copy it to info@plymouthpcv.co.uk (*)
Why do I need to identify a theme?
At the PPCV meeting with inspectors, they pointed out that they want “themes” rather than “case studies”. At PPCV, we know through the experiences that you share with us that there are repeated themes that need to be addressed, so lets make those themes explicitly clear so our experiences are harder to ignore.
Examples of themes could include: the availability of specialist provisions, consistency of SEND practice within settings, legal deadlines, quality of EHCP…..and so on. Don’t forget, if you have more than one theme you can list them all at the start of the email.
Your personal story is important to all of us at PPCV. However, as we know, inspections can be based on check-lists. Identify your theme/s at the very start, then back it up with the story you have already told us.
Why do I need to resend it?
We want your story heard. However, due to GDPR, PPCV are not allowed to just forward the information you have given us.
Please send your email to lasend@ofsted.gov.uk with PLYMOUTH INSPECTION in the subject box. (This mailbox is used for ALL inspections in the country, so it is really important that you put PLYMOUTH INSPECTION in the subject box.
And copy it to us at info@plymouthpcv.co.uk so we know exactly how many parents have sent their views. (* You don’t have to do this step if you don’t want us to see what you have sent – it is just useful for us to see how many parents have fed back, so please don’t feel that you have to copy it to us.)
When is the closing date?
We were not given one, so we recommend 9am by Monday 26th June to ensure your information is included.
Just one more thing…
Did you attend our SEND & Celebration Conference? How about our Preparing for Adulthood course? If you found either of them useful, please let the inspectors know. Your “theme” for that could be (for example) Good support from the parent carer forum. Your “case study” will be your personal statement about what was really useful.
